Старажытны свет — перыяд у гісторыі чалавецтва, які вылучаецца паміж і пачаткам Сярэднявечча ў Еўропе. У іншых рэгіёнах часавыя межы старажытнасці могуць адрознівацца ад еўрапейскіх. Напрыклад, канцом старажытнага перыяду ў Кітаі часам лічаць з'яўленне імперыі , у — імперыі Чола, а ў Амерыцы — пачатак
